BROADVIEW - According to Governor Pat Quinn, the state is awarding about $1.2 million in capital construction funding to a suburban Chicago park to help renovate its recreation center.

Quinn made the announcement at the Broadview park on Saturday.  The money is a portion of the $50 million available through the Parks and Recreational Facility Construction program, and will go towards renovating the gymnasium and other areas at the Beverly Center.  A climbing wall, elevator, and play equipment will also be added.  

Projects eligible to receive funding from the program includes land acquisition, architectural planning, development, construction, rehabilitation, and improvements.

The total cost of the renovation project is $1.6 million.
