BROADVIEW - According to Governor Pat Quinn, the state is awarding about $1.2 million in capital construction funding to a suburban Chicago park to help renovate its recreation center.
Quinn made the announcement at the Broadview park on Saturday. The money is a portion of the $50 million available through the Parks and Recreational Facility Construction program, and will go towards renovating the gymnasium and other areas at the Beverly Center. A climbing wall, elevator, and play equipment will also be added. Â
Projects eligible to receive funding from the program includes land acquisition, architectural planning, development, construction, rehabilitation, and improvements.
The total cost of the renovation project is $1.6 million.
