DE LAND, Ill. (WAND) — A man was convicted on multiple counts of driving under the influence after a crash in April 2025 left one person dead and several people injured in Piatt County.

According to court records, Jason Sharp was found guilty on four counts of aggravated DUI.

The Piatt County Sheriff's Office said that on April 13, officers responded to a two car crash at the corner of 2500 North Road and 800 East Road.

According to the sheriff's office, Sharp drove through a yield sign and 50-year-old Joshua Beck crashed into the side of Sharp's car, which rolled over.

Sharp had three passengers, two women and a man.

Sharp and two of his passengers were taken to the hospital by ambulance, while the third passenger was airlifted to the hospital.

Beck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police issued Sharp multiple citations at the scene of the crash. He was later charged with four counts of aggravated DUI in May 2025.

Sharp was denied pre-trial release and ordered to report to the Piatt County Jail on or before Monday, April 13 by 8 a.m. A sentencing hearing is set for Monday, June 15.
