SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A car caught fire close to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Friday morning.

We've reached out to the Springfield Police Department to learn if the driver or anyone else in the vehicle was injured.

A representative from the museum told WAND News that there was no serious damage to the museum building, only minor scarring and scorching to the granite exterior.

A post from Springfield Fire Fighters Local 37 said the car did not crash into the building, but a gas meter was involved. Ameren was on scene to shut off the meter.

The museum is open for business Friday.
