CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND)- A Champaign County entertainer has been charged with eight counts of child pornography.
The State's Attorney charged Dante J. Scott, 28, with eight counts of Child Pornography -- a Class X Felony -- for the dissemination of pornographic videos and photos, depicting multiple children under the age of 13.
Officials with the Illinois State Police say they, the Champaign County Sheriff's office, and the Champaign Police Department conducted a search warrant of Scott's house on September 9 after receiving multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Scott also known as DJ Slim, is a producer and entertainment manager for a Champaign summer music program called The Beat. He also previously worked at the Champaign Public Library.
The City of Champaign released the following statement:
“The City can confirm that Dante Scott served as a contracted vendor to provide entertainment services to the City this summer, and was a former employee of the Champaign Public Library. As this is an open investigation by the Illinois State Police, the City will not comment on this matter further.”
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
We will continue to update this story with the latest details as they are released.
