URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A Champaign man is accused of threatening to kidnap and kill a federal judge. 

The News Gazette reports that Eric Rennert, 65, threatened to kidnap, assault, and murder a federal judge in Florida. 

Prosecutors said Rennert threatened a judge who may have handled former President Donald Trump's classified documents case. 

Rennert appeared over video conference Thursday at the U.S. Courthouse in Urbana.

Rennert was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service to be transported to the Southern District of Florida for further proceedings.
