TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Nestled just south of Taylorville off Route 48 you'll find Engdale Farms Christmas Trees.
Dick and Judy Engdale purchased the land and in 1991 started selling Christmas trees.
"We started selling trees out of the trunk of a car," said Alan, Dick and Judy's son.
Fast-forward to 2023, there are 16 acres of trees for families to choose from, and over the Thanksgiving weekend, they sold more than 100.
"We didn't open until 9 and at 8:30 there were already people here," he said.
Alan shared that people as far as Chicago and Missouri have traveled to the farm to pick out their perfect Christmas tree.
Engdale Farms is open Tuesday through Friday from Noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located at 3221 S. Cherokee Rd., Taylorville.
