DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A 21-year-old Decatur man has been arrested for the shooting death of Deamontae L. Weaver.Â
According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting just after 10 a.m. on May 22, near the intersection of North Poole Street and West Center Street.

When they arrived, officers found a 23-year-old man, later identified as Deamontae L. Weaver of Decatur, who had been shot inside a home in the 900 block of West Center Street. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Police say later that same day they obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Jarvis M. Smith Jr. for First Degree Murder.
Smith was taken into custody by the United States Marshal’s Service Great Lakes Regional Task Force. He was located in the 1000 block of W. Main St. in Decatur.
