CLINTON- One-hundred-seventy-five years and four buildings later, one local church is still going strong. At one-hundred-seventy-five years old, the First Baptist Church in Clinton is considered one of the oldest churches in DeWitt County. Pastors John Roberson and Keith Gomez see the church's progress not only important for their regular church goers but for the entire Clinton and surrounding communities. The celebration started with a church service in the morning, followed by lunch in the church's basement and an afternoon service. Although the first Sunday in February calls for a day of celebration, Church Pastor John Roberson says that every Sunday is worth celebrating. Nearly three-hundred people regularly attend First Baptist Church in Clinton. A full house of about four-hundred attended Sunday's celebrations.
