Churches Vandalized In Decatur

Decatur, IL- Some Decatur churches are cleaning up after they were vandalized Monday night.

There was graffiti spray painted on three churches along Mound Road.

Pastor John Norris from the Riverside Baptist Church says as many as nine churches were vandalized. He says his church has had vandalism in the past, but never to this extent.

"I'm concerned that if there's a pattern of hatred developing among some individuals, especially against churches, religious intolerance in society is growing and I'd hate to see this grow into a larger trend where it becomes like hate crimes."

Decatur police say the Starbucks on Mound Road was also vandalized. Employees there have already painted over the graffiti.
