ST. JOSEPH, Ill. (WAND) - St. Joseph-Ogden High School student Adalyn Jannusch was awarded the Chancellor's Scholarship from SIU Carbondale Thursday morning, a prestigious award from the school.
The scholarship will cover all tuition, fees and room and board for all four years of school.
"It will help me not go into debt in the future," Jannusch told WAND News. "Being able to get a bachelor's degree and then setting myself up for more success in the future."
Jannusch wants to be a chiropractor, which requires more schooling on top of a four-year degree.
"I want to be a chiropractor, so this scholarship will help me get a bachelor's degree paid for in exercise science to be able to move on to chiropractor school in the future,"Â Jannusch said.
SIUC officials said Jannusch really stood out with her hard work in high school.
"We're really looking at the work they have done while they're in high school," said Sarah Jiter, the school's director for undergraduate admissions. "We're looking at their application, their GPA and we're looking for students that are both high achieving and goal driven and giving back to their community."
