URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a March 2025 DUI crash that killed a two-month-old baby.
Court records show that Kartila Brooks pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated DUI causing death.
Brooks will receive credit for five days previously served.
She was arrested in April 2025 after a crash the month prior at the intersection of Philo Road and Colorado Avenue in Urbana.
Police said that Brooks had failed to stop at the intersection, which caused the death of a two-month-old and injured the baby's two siblings and mother.Â
