MAHOMET, Ill. (WAND) - A Mahomet man has been arrested and charged after police said multiple children under the age of 10 reported sexual abuse.Â
The Mahomet Police Department arrested Willie Luckett, 64, on preliminary charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child on Feb. 7.Â
The police department was notified by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services on Jan. 14 that multiple children under the age of 10 had made allegations of sexual abuse involving Luckett.
The children were living at a residence they shared with Luckett in Mahomet and had been left in Luckett’s care on multiple occasions, police said.Â
Mahomet Police Department conducted a criminal investigation and worked in coordination with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Champaign County Children’s Advocacy Center, the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Champaign Police Department.
According to court documents, Luckett was granted pretrial release on Tuesday.
