DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — With the work of Decatur alumni, community members, and students from an Alabama show choir will hit the stage at MacArthur High School on Friday night.Â
Show choir abruptly stopped for Decatur students, but with the support of the community, Youth With a Positive Direction is bringing students back to the stage.Â
"The kids in this region could really use this kind of output and this kind of space for them to release their gifts and talents," said George Walker.Â
Youth With a Positive Direction brings show choir back to Decatur.
Walker is working with YWAPD to help relaunch show choir in the city.Â
"I'm going to bring 20 people who've never done show choir, bring them here, mix them with the alumni from Eisenhower, MacArthur and put them in one big group to perform a show together."Â
The show is Friday night at 7 p.m. at MacArthur High School. The event is free. To follow along with YWAPD, click here.Â
