Police arrest- jail (C)

DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A Danville man has been sentenced to three decades behind bars for child pornography charges.

Lester Winters, Jr. pleaded guilty to dissemination of child pornography by a sex offender, a class X felony, on Aug. 12.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on that charge.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography by a sex offender, a class 1 felony. On that charge he was sentenced to ten years. The sentences will be served consecutively.

Evidence was heard that on April 10, 2024, Illinois State Police got a CyberTip of a child pornographic video that had been uploaded to Google. Police were able to identify Winters as the user associated with the Google account and email address attached to the tip.

A forensic analysis of Winters' phone showed multiple images of nude minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Police said he not only possessed images, but was sharing them through an app on his phone.
