COLES COUNTY - The Champaign County Coroner has released the identity of a man who died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash near Mattoon Thursday morning.
Authorities say a man riding a motorcycle collided with another vehicle while crossing Route 45 in Coles County at about 7:52 a.m. Police say the man was ejected from the motorcycle and received several traumatic injuries, and was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital for treatment.
Coroner Duane Northrup says the man, identified as Juan Vasquez, 40, was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. Northrup says Vasquez was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and that no autopsy will be performed.
This crash is still under investigation by the Mattoon Police Department and Champaign County Coroner's Office.
