DECATUR, IL- The Macon County Coroner has released the name of a man who died after crashing his truck into his home.

The coroner says 67 year-old Vernon Cox only had minor surface abrasions and bruises after the crash. The coroner says it was actually a massive heart attack that killed Cox.

The crash occurred Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. at a home in the 2400 block of East Garfield in Decatur.

First responders were called to the scene after Cox accidentally drove his truck through the front room of his house.

Police told family members that Cox suffered a heart attack and that made him lose control of the truck and crash into the house.

Several family members were home at the time, but none were injured.

The home has been declared unlivable after the crash and as a result three adults and one child are displaced.

The family has set up an account where community members can make donations to help get them back on their feet. The account is listed under Al Crawley Jr. and Katrina Cox at the CEFCUE Bank on Woodford Street in Decatur.
