DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The second teen arrested in connection to the brutal murder of Tyler Eubanks was sentenced Tuesday.
As part of a plea deal, Jamarrion Lloyd, 17, pleaded guilty to armed violence, a Class X felony, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
According to police, Otis Allen and Lloyd lured Eubanks to an abandoned building, put him into a chokehold, and stabbed him to death in July 2023.
A witness told police there was a discussion in Monroe Park before the stabbing between the two arrested teens about luring Tyler into the building and killing him.
Police said Tyler was talked into going inside the building by the other two teens. An autopsy found 23 individual stab wounds on Tyler's body on the back, head, and neck.
Lloyd will serve time in the Department of Juvenile Justice until his 18th birthday.
Since the murder, Tyler's family and friends have kept his memory alive by giving back to the community.
