DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Charges were upgraded against an 18-year-old who Danville police said shot a 15-year-old boy last month. 

The Danville Police Department stated that the shooting happened around 2 p.m. March 22 at a home on E. Williams Street. 

Officers arrived at the home to find the 15-year-old boy shot multiple times. He was then hospitalized in critical condition. 

Police got word that the shooting victim had died from his injuries on April 1 after receiving treatment in Indianapolis. 

Danville police took Lavelle Dozier into custody in connection with the shooting

Dozier was formally charged with first-degree murder after the victim's death on April 20.
