DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A Danville man was arrested after being accused of armed robbery at a local business early Wednesday morning.Â
Danville police responded to a call just before 5:30 a.m. to The Oasis on N. Gilbert Street after someone repeatedly called 911 to give an address before being cut off.Â
Police arrived to find a man had entered the store and pointed a gun at a worker, demanding money.Â
The suspect shot multiple times at the worker, who ran after barricading themselves behind the counter. No injuries were reported.Â
During an investigation, police, along with the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department, were led to a home along Harmon Street and surrounded it.Â
The Danville Police Department's Emergency Response Unit arrived at the scene and demanded that the suspect inside, later identified as 29-year-old Gino Lopez, leave. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.Â
Lopez was booked on charges of armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.Â
