CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - An arrest has been made in connection with a May shooting in Champaign. 

Police said a 30-year-old victim was at a gathering on May 23 when he was shot by 54-year-old Kevin P. Pettis. 

It happened in the 1200 block of West Bradley Avenue around 8:49 p.m. 

The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital. He was treated and released. 

On July 16, Pettis was arrested on a warrant by the U.S. Marshals Service and detectives with the Champaign Police Department. A search warrant was executed in the 1200 block of West Bradley Ave. 

Pedttis was taken to jail on a warrant charging him with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
