CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A man has been charged for a shooting that injured a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old in Champaign.Â
Champaign police were called to the 200 block of Burr Oak Ct. at 10:19 p.m. on June 8 for a report of a shooting.Â
Officers found a 13-year-old with life-threatening gunshot wounds. The teen was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He is still hospitalized and receiving ongoing treatment.Â
A 15-year-old victim was shot in the hand and was also taken to the hospital, treated, and released.Â
Police said their investigation shows multiple people were involved in a fight before the shooting took place. The group ran away before officers arrived.Â
Following an investigation, 27-year-old Kejuan Jenkins of Champaign was developed as a suspect. Jenkins was already in custody of the Champaign County Correctional Center on unrelated charges. On June 25, he was charged with attempted murder in relation to this case.Â
