CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A third Champaign teenager was arrested Thursday for their role in a July 15 shooting that left a 14-year-old injured.Â
Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Third Street just after 5 p.m. July 15 and found a boy with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. The Champaign Police Department said that he has since been released and continues to recover.Â
Champaign Police say the 14-year-old was outside of an apartment complex when multiple people approached and shot him before running away.Â
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both from Champaign, in connection with the shooting on the night of the incident. Officers also found two guns during the investigation.
Champaign Police said on July 31, a 17-year-old boy from Champaign was also arrested for his role in the shooting.Â
The names for all three subjects cannot be released due to their ages.Â
The Champaign PD stated that, despite three arrests having been made, the investigation is ongoing.Â
