Third Champaign teenager arrested for July 15 shooting

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A third Champaign teenager was arrested Thursday for their role in a July 15 shooting that left a 14-year-old injured.

Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of N. Third Street just after 5 p.m. July 15 and found a boy with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. The Champaign Police Department said that he has since been released and continues to recover.

Champaign Police say the 14-year-old was outside of an apartment complex when multiple people approached and shot him before running away.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both from Champaign, in connection with the shooting on the night of the incident. Officers also found two guns during the investigation.

Champaign Police said on July 31, a 17-year-old boy from Champaign was also arrested for his role in the shooting.
