DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur City Council will consider using more federal COVID funding to continue improvements at the former Wee Folks facility.

A local daycare owner was previously awarded $250,000 in federal grant money to transform the former Wee Folks Daycare into a modern-day facility.

But the Decatur City Council learned the project cost had ballooned to $750,000.

The project still needs about $730,000.

The building would then be operated privately.

The Decatur City Council will discuss the issue Monday night.
