DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Resident complaints have the Decatur City Council reexamining rates for the hauling of yard waste. Councilman David Horn asked council members to look at the rates for Premium Yard Waste service after citizens saw their bills.

At least one hauler is requiring residents to pay for their service a year in advance and is charging $5 a bag after the customer fills up a 96-gallon tote.

“Both of these charges that are happening by at least one hauler are concerning and they should be reviewed by the city council,” Horn stated.

A review of the rates will take place at the Decatur Civic Center on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 5:30pm. An official vote will not take place at this session.
