URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A 75-year-old Urbana man was arrested following a child sexual assault investigation.
The Champaign County Sheriff's Office arrested Edward Bridges in connection with a seven-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted at 1:30 a.m. on March 22.
The investigation began when the victim's family reported that the girl's sibling found Bridges' phone.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the phone had several pictures and videos showing the victim being abused, which had taken place over several years.
During an interview, Bridges confessed and gave police permission to examine his phone, which, upon review, supported the previous statements made.
Bridges was taken into custody and charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and child pornography.
The investigation is ongoing.
