DECATUR, IL- A 20 year old man is heading to prison for accidentally shooting his friend earlier this year.
Jamontey Neal was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing his friend, Christopher Tyler Beasley, last April. Neal was playing with a gun and waving it around, when the gun went off and shot Beasley in the head.
Neal is also a registered sex offender. The prosecutor argued he didn't learn his lesson with that first felony for the sex crime, and he is aware how harmful guns are.
Neal originally faced murder charges, but through a plea deal, those charges were dropped and he pleaded guilty to aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Beasley was 20-years-old when he died.
