DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Saturday marks 83 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Saturday morning veterans in Decatur held a remembrance ceremony at the Beach House near Lake Decatur.

The veterans who put the event together, told WAND News this is how they honor those impacted.

The President of the Macon County Veteran's Assistance Commission, William Hanes, said the ceremony is, "Well it's a big part of our history. We need to remember what happened, and like they say: if you don't remember history then we will repeat it, and history does repeat itself."
