WESTVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A fire in the downtown area shut down traffic in Westville Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported just after 7 a.m., and crews shared it took about three hours to put out the fire.
The building was located just off of North State Street, and Fire Chief Mark Ames says the building has been unoccupied. No one was inside or injured during the fire.
"We did have 10 agencies respond with us. And, 28 members from those ten agencies, including Danville Fire, came out to suppress the fire today" shares Chief Ames.
The Westville Police Department posted to Facebook, saying N. State St. (IL Rt 1) had been closed in both directions at Main St. and Williams St.
The road has since reopened.
The Westville Fire Protection District said the major fire was in the downtown area of Westville by Latoz Hardware.
WAND News has spoken with the Westville Fire Chief and is waiting to learn more information about the cause of the fire.
