DEVELOPING: Pana house fire turns into arson investigation; Suspect in custody

PANA – A home near Lake Pana was up in flames Sunday evening, and authorities later confirmed they were looking into the incident as arson.

Pana Police tell WAND’s Ed Cross the call came in about the fire, as well as a domestic dispute, at around 4:15 PM on Sunday, November 20. It was around half an hour later that WAND News received a photo from a neighbor nearby of the house nearly engulfed in flames.

Just before 10 PM, WAND News received confirmation from Pana Police that the investigation of the fire had become an arson investigation. They also informed WAND that they were seeking a suspect.

At around 10:25 PM, WAND News learned the suspect had been taken into custody. They were transported to a local hospital to be treated for what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries. That suspect could be transferred to a major hospital at a later time.

Pana Police continue to investigate this incident and say they will release more information on Monday.
