(WAND) — The leases of six federally-leased buildings are on the chopping block, according to the Department of Government Efficiency website.

Last month, the Associated Press reported that President Trump and DOGE leader Elon Musk sent a memo to General Services Administration’s regional managers to begin terminating leases on federal offices nationwide. Around one million federal civilian employees work in these offices.

Locally, six leases have been named by the administration, all located in Champaign and Springfield. The DOGE website claims that eliminating these leases will save around $350,000.

Federal Leases Expected to be Terminated in Central Ilinois

CITY OFFICE ANNUAL LEASE
Champaign International Revenue Service National Office $93,630
Champaign Office of the Comptroller of the Currency $57,893
Springfield Departmental Management $63,848
Springfield Employment Standards Administration: Wage and Hour Division $42,058
Springfield Public Buildings Service $62,102
Springfield Small Business Administration $34,756

There's currently no information on when these leases will end, or where remaining federal workers will be expected to perform their duties.
