MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - Douglas Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mattoon is closing.
The center notified the Illinois Department of Public Health about the decision Tuesday. It is located in the 3500 block of Powell Lane along Illinois Route 121/DeWitt Ave.
The center currently employees 54 people and has 37 residents. Residents and their families have been given lists of other senior living homes within a 25 mile radius.
It will close in about three months time.
The center had been struggling financially. Officials said the decision to close was made as the property owner, Omega Healthcare, is preparing to sell the center and other properties to a real estate investment group out of Chicago.
The center had marked it's 50th year in 2014 and had made years worth of renovations and updates to services.
