(WAND) — Eight school districts across Central Illinois will receive over $3 million in funding on top of the base funding that the state provides.
The school districts receiving the money include:
- Decatur Public Schools District 61: $1,305,463
- Springfield School District 186: $1,108,951
- Macon-Piatt Regional Office of Education 39: $260,224
- Ball Chatham School District 5: $254,818
- Menard-Sangamon Regional Office of Education 51: $174,939
- Rochester School District 3A: $126,477
- South Fork School District 14: $32,073
- Edinburg School District 4: $3,844
The money comes from the 2017 evidence-based funding formula, which changed how the state funds K-12 education.
The law made school funding more equitable by basing state revenue on the needs of individual school districts.
Some factors the formula uses include a district's total enrollment, poverty rate and number of special education or English language learners.Â
