CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — A special Unit 4 School Board meeting called to vote on ending Superintendent Dr. Shelia Boozer's contract. Board members passed the vote, ending Boozer's contract a year earlier than originally planned, effective immediately.
The vote passed 5-2, with BOE new-comers Justin Michael Hendrix and Dr. Grace Kang voting against. Hendrix called on his fellow board members to be more open with their constituents.Â
"So let's be honest about what's going on, what we're deciding on doing. Each and every one of you -- outside of Dr. Kang -- but the rest of you, I'm going to hold very accountable to all of this." he said.
The Board also passed a vote to appoint Daniel Casillas as acting superintendent while the district searches for an interim. Boozer will remain on paid leave until her contract expires June 30, 2026.
