WAND News has learned Anja Dangelmaier was one of four swimmers involved in the serious Teutopolis accident.

The Mizzou Swim Club Instagram page states:

"We are very fortunate to say that all 4 of them are alive, although their conditions are severe and they have all been admitted to the ICU. Club swim has started a GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial burden the 4 families are facing."

The GoFundMe lists the other swimmers as Weston Hemmerling, Sarah Tague and John Costello.

TEUTOPOLIS, Ill. (WAND) - The parents of a woman who was badly injured in the Teutopolis crash Sept. 29 has hired an attorney.

Lawyer Ben Crump was retrained by the parents of Anja Dangelmaier. She was badly injured when a tanker carrying anhydrous ammonia overturned on U.S. 40 near Teutopolis. The crash left five people dead, multiple people injured, and led to mass evacuations.

Dangelmaier is in critical condition.

She was driving to a swim meet against Ohio State when the tanker overturned in front of her.

In a statement, Attorney Crump said, "This chemical spill cost five people their lives and required that five others were airlifted to the nearest hospital. We are demanding an investigation into the accident that caused this catastrophic crash, and accountability from the driver and the trucking company for their negligence. Anja is in the ICU with severe chemical burns to her lungs, eyes, and most of her body. This young woman was trying to make it to a swim meet with her teammates, and instead faced a tragedy that will forever change her life."

A Go Fund Me account for Dangelmaier has already raised over $21,000.
