Fire destroys a more than 70-year-old Central Illinois ballroom where Duke Ellington and Lawrence Welk once played.
The Hub Ballroom in the Peoria County town of Edelstein burned to the ground early Wednesday morning. Investigators say the fire started around 2:45 a.m., but they're not sure what caused it.
The Hub was built in 1938, and in its heyday it hosted big-name acts such as Glen Miller, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Benny Goodman.
