DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — After a long hiatus, boat racing will return to Lake Decatur this June.
Hardy’s Highway: Race for the Lake was announced by the Decatur Park District last September.
Sponsored by Dan Hardy and the Warren Daniel Hardy Charitable Fund, the races will take place at Nelson Park on June 8 and 9.

Around 60 hydro and flat bottom boats will compete in sanctioned racing from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. In addition to the racing, there will be food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, music, and family-friendly activities.
WAND News will be broadcasting live from the Beach House on Friday, June 7 from 4 to 5 p.m. We'll have interviews with racers, including a hometown racer who helped bring the event back, as well as information for race spectators.
