EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) — One man is dead after a head-on crash Saturday. 

The Effingham County Coroner, Kim Rhodes, said the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. just south of Jaycee Ave.

Rhodes said. the driver, Scott Mosher, of a 2024 GMC pick-up truck towing a camper, and his wife, Kathy Mosher, collided with a 1999 Dodge Durango, driven by James Ashley.

The coroner said for some unknown reason, Ashley, a 41-year-old man from Effingham, crossed the center lane and hit the Mosher's truck head-on.

First responders took Ashley to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 7:15 a.m. on Saturday.

First responders also took the Moshers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Rhodes said that an autopsy conducted on Sunday shows there were some medical issues.

But, the official autopsy and toxicology reports are unavailable for 30 days.
