DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Hickory River Smokehouse in Decatur will be shutting its doors permanently.

The restaurant announced on its Facebook page that its last day of operation will be October 13.

According to a release sent to WAND News, the building the barbecue restaurant leased at 2330 S. Mt. Zion Road has sold and the new owner has other plans, forcing the closure.

"With heavy hearts we must inform you that our lease will not be renewed, as the building's new owners have other plans," the restaurant said. "We extend our deepest gratitude for your support and loyalty over the past 17 years. Serving you has been our pleasure, and we will miss you all."

While the Decatur restaurant will close, Hickory River Smokehouse will continue to serve its signature slow smoked barbecue favorites across central Illinois with locations in Springfield, Peoria, Champaign and Urbana.

Gift cards will still be honored at all other Hickory River Smokehouse locations.

“While this location is closing soon, there’s still time over the next couple weeks to get some of your favorite barbecue. And our buy one sandwich, get one free promotion will continue until we close.”, said owner Michael Madigan
