DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – If you think hot weather is putting a dent in the food truck business, guess again.
Food truck owners tell WAND News sales remain brisk.
“It’s actually the busiest that it’s ever been when it’s hot like this,” said Clint Brumleve, the owner of the Tornado Truck at North Illinois Route 48 in Decatur. “It stays busy. We stay moving, and we’ve got the air conditioner running full blast. So, without that, we couldn’t do it as well as we do.”
Many food trucks do not have air conditioning, but sales continue to be strong as customers look for good food.
“During the summertime, it’s busy time for us,” Dre Rizky, the operator of the Kirro Hibachi food truck on South Side Drive, told WAND News. He opened his business this past winter. “During the summertime it’s more busy than wintertime.”
Brumleve tells us that a couple of the popular items he is selling are lemon shakeups and Italian beef sandwiches.
