HSHS to end services at Millikin University Health Clinic

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Hospital Sisters Health System announced that it would no longer be providing services for the HSHS Medical Group Health Center - Millikin University after Dec. 27, 2024.

The health center, located at 150 S. Fairview in Decatur, was opened in March 2023.

“As part of Hospital Sisters Health System’s ongoing commitment to its healthcare mission, we continuously evaluate how we deliver care to our community. In support of these ongoing assessments, HSHS Medical Group has determined it is necessary to end its agreement with Millikin University to provide medical management services for the walk-in clinic located on Millikin University’s campus, effective December 27, 2024,” said Vice President of Operations HSHS Physician Enterprise Mandi Vehlow. “It has been our honor to provide medical management services for the Millikin Clinic for the past two years, and HSHS remains committed to continuing to serve the Decatur community through our many other healthcare services and locations.”

HSHS said that it's working with Millikin leadership to determine the next steps for the clinic and staff. A release said that students and the general public who have used the services at the Millikin Clinic will be notified by HSHS of this decision and kept informed of all future plans as they are confirmed.

There is currently no transition agreement in place, but Millikin said the university is hopeful once can be arranged soon. Leadership is currently exploring other provider options to determine if a transition can occur with no disruption.

“We appreciate the important services that the Millikin Health Clinic provides to our students, faculty, staff and the greater Decatur community. We are working diligently to avoid an interruption of services at the Clinic, and we will share an update when we have more information,” Millikin President Dr. Jim Reynolds said. “It’s important to note that Millikin’s Health & Wellness Services, including our Student Mental and Behavioral Health (SMBH) Office, will continue to operate and support Millikin’s students, staff and faculty.”
