SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Sangamon County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man after he was accused of attacking a pregnant woman in Springfield Friday morning.
The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office responded just before 11:30 a.m. to a reported stabbing at an apartment complex along South Douglas Avenue.Â
Sheriff's deputies found 18-year-old Marcello Scott of Springfield with a non-life-threatening chest injury, and he was taken to the hospital.Â
An investigation found that Scott forced himself into the apartment of an 18-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant, and hit her. The sheriff's office said the woman used a small kitchen knife to defend herself, and later showed deputies where the knife was.Â
She was taken to the hospital to be looked over due to her pregnancy.Â
Scott faces charges of home invasion, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery to a pregnant woman.Â
He was transported to the Sangamon County Jail after being released from the hospital.Â
