(WAND) -Â A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for several northern counties until 1 p.m. Wednesday including Champaign, DeWitt, Dekalb, Ford, Iroquois, Kankakee, Logan, and McLean.
According to WAND Meteorologist Nick Patrick, a strong line of storms will impact the area starting around 11 a.m.
The primary threat from these storms will be damaging wind gusts — localized gusts of 70 mph or stronger are possible.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Heat Advisory for portions of central, southeast, and west central Illinois until 7 p.m. These counties include Cass, Morgan, Sangamon, Christian, Shelby, Effingham, Jasper, and Clay.Â
