JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WAND) - An Illinois lottery player accidentally bought a ticket online and walked away with a huge win.
Holly, from Johnston City, Illinois, accidentally bought a $20 Magnificent Multiplier, winning the FastPlay jackpot of $250,000.
Holly told the Illinois Lottery, “I meant to buy the $2 Booming Bucks... I was watching a movie and accidentally selected the $20 ticket.”
She did not plan to spend $20, but she ended up with a big payout.
FastPlay tickets do not require selecting numbers and there's no waiting to find out if you win.
“I was sitting at my desk in my home office," she said. “I honestly thought my computer had crashed.”
Holly, a retired teacher, said her husband didn't believe it at first when she told him. “Before I could even show him the ticket, he said, ‘It’s so late—did you make a meme?’” she said. “I told him, ‘No silly—I won the jackpot!’”
She said she plans to use her winnings to build a family home and buy a baby grand piano.
The Illinois Lottery offers 35 FastPlay games, with tickets available in-store, online, or on the Illinois Lottery app.
