JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A 15-year-old girl is dead and three others are hurt after a single-vehicle crash in Morgan County Friday night.
According to the Morgan County Coroner's Office, it happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Mt. Zion Road and Gravel Springs Road. That is just northwest of Jacksonville.
The Coroner's Office said the vehicle was driving east on Mt. Zion Road when it drove off the road and rolled over.
They said 15-year-old Adelisa "Addy" Rose Johnson was in the backseat when she was ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear what condition the other three people in the car are in.
Rose Johnson was a sophomore at Jacksonville High School, according to district superintendent Steve Ptacek.
"The entire JSD117 community is grieving the loss of Addy, who was a cherished member of our school. She will be greatly missed by students and staff," Superintendent Steve Ptacek said in the Facebook post. "On behalf of the staff, board, and student body, I offer sincere condolences to Addy's family and loved ones during this difficult time."
The district said counselors, social workers and psychologists will be available to support anyone affected.
The school district also said they are sending their wishes to the students still recovering from the accident and their families.
It is unclear how old the others involved in the crash are. It is also unclear how many, if any, were also students within the Jacksonville School District.
WAND has reached out to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police for more information, but they did not have anything more to release at this time.
