(WAND) - Four Memorial Health Hospitals have earned national attention for their cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

Decatur Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Springfield Memorial and Taylorville Memorial all received recertification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

It comes during American Heart Month, which is all about keeping your heart healthy.

Dr. Nadal Aker, cardiologist at Decatur Memorial, told WAND News important symptoms of potential heart health problems to look out for.

"Be cognizant of symptoms, be aware if there's any shortness of breath, fatigue with activity, tiredness with activity, chest discomfort and the chest pain can be anywhere from the chest, throat, arms, back, upper back," Aker said.

Aker said regular checkups are an important part of preventative care.

Exercising regularly, not smoking and reducing or cutting alcohol are good ways to keep yourself healthy.
