DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois People's Action called on Decatur to reconsider its easement allowing ADM to inject CO2 under Lake Decatur.Â
The City negotiated a 99-year easement for ADM to expand its carbon capture project.Â
Decatur City Council later learned that while city leaders were negotiating with ADM, there was at least one leak at its CO2 injection site.Â
However, the company did not notify the city until months after the deal.
Only one council member spoke in support of reconsidering the easement.Â
