DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A child was arrested Thursday after police say they threatened to shoot up a school in Danville.
According to the Danville Police Department, officers received a report of a phone-in threat involving a "possible school shooting" directed at an unidentified Danville school.
Officers immediately started an investigation with the Danville School District to ensure the safety of the staff, students and community.
After investigation, officers determined the threat was made by a child under the age of 18. The child was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat, disorderly conduct — threat of violence on or at school property, and disorderly conduct — reporting a false alarm or complaint via 9-1-1.
