TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Taylorville Lake's beach is temporarily closed due to high levels of E coli in its water.Â
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, officials tested the water Wednesday morning, with results more than 18 times the allowable limit of bacteria.Â
It is unclear when IDPH informed city officials, but the city did not post a notice online until after 4 p.m. Thursday.Â
Taylorville Mayor Bruce Barry told WAND News that the water is being tested.Â
It is unclear when the beach will reopen.Â
