DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A Danville man charged with multiple counts of first degree murder after a 2023 shooting was found not guilty on all counts by a Vermilion County Circuit Court jury on Friday.
Brandon Buford was accused of shooting and killing Christopher Smalls in May of 2023.Â
The trial lasted for four days, and the jury deliberated for over three hours before reaching the verdict.Â
On May 5, 2023, police responded to the 1200 block of Chandler Street for reports of a gun being fired during a fight.
Officers found Smalls with a gunshot wound to his groin. He was taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
After speaking to witnesses, police said they identified Buford as a suspect and found him near the scene.
