DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Fourth of July is just a couple of days away, and Decatur's Lake Patrol is prepared for the holiday.

Lake Supervisor Chris Pumphrey said boaters need to meet a few requirements before they hit the water.

"To get on the lake, you need a season pass," Pumphrey said. "If you don't have a season pass, we offer a day pass for $15 that can be bought in the Lake Patrol office."

Before getting on the lake, Pumphrey and the Lake Patrol urge boaters to follow key safety measures.

"Make sure everybody has life jackets on, make sure nobody is doing anything crazy in their boats that they shouldn't be doing," Pumphrey said. "Make sure if you're swimming, you're swimming in the right spot."
